Back at The Ice Sunday night, this time just to watch & support our teams & hockey in general.
First up The Peewee Grand Final between the Rhinos & The Eagles,( Rhinos upsetting our guys last week & knocking us out of contention ) with Canterbury being the hot favourites, but Erina having the advantage of a state coach.
The game was fast and well worth the noise from the crowd & the crowd ( 225 supporters most in colours with horns, bells & whistles like a world cup game in South Africa ) was loud.
Some great breaks with shots a plenty, saw both goalies earn their money.
Canterbury stayed strong & in the end, were just too good for the Coasties, taking home the trophy. The goalie being the main difference earning his title of number one in the league and in the country.
Next up our Titans take on another team from Canterbury in the Major semi .
A tight game in the first period, with tempers remaining controlled for the most part . Glad to see Andy not break another stick & no more helmets get split or dummies get spat.Good to see some of our players still have the knack of ruffling feathers then talking their way out of the penalty.!!!
Titans were just too strong and ended up deserved winners. Some of the best teamwork and resulting goals I have ever seen.
Juniors should watch this Sunday night at SIA, what should be a great game of hockey IN THE FINAL as our TITANS take on ( another Canterbury team ) the Canterbury Eagles fighting it out for the trophy.
Next up our Bishops battled a spirited Penrith side and while Penrith put up a show our players were far too strong with our European & Canadian imports combining with our seasoned veterans tipping the scales in our favour. Glad we spent the big dollars on this team, they look like bringing home a trophy as well.I think there were more players then spectators, both our Bishops & Penrith seemed to have a dozen lines each. Maybe room for 2 more teams in that comp?
It would be good to see a BIG SAINTS CROWD support our senior teams in the finals this week at S.I.A. starting at 5pm.
GO SAINTS GO
